ClayInfinity

ClayInfinity Studio is a home studio set up by Jenny Chung(JC).

In 2014, she attended a pottery class from a community center and she knew then she'd found her passion.  She decided to retire from work and  pursue her hobby in 2017.

Since 2017, she had gone to Japan 4 times, each time about 30 days to learn pottery from different Japanese pottery senseis at Seto and Tajimi in Japan.  She learnt Nerikomi, porcelain, shino and raku programs in Japan.

After  numerous trials and errors, JC found her niche in surface decoration using "Infinity knots" and "Geometric" patterns.

Hand carved technique

In 2017 during a trip to Korea, JC visited the Pottery Village at Icheon.  She was most impressed by the geometric patterns that were hand carved by the pottery masters.  They were exquisite.  This "hand-carved" technique has become one of her favorite decoration technique.

Nerikomi Technique

Nerikomi is another technique that JC learnt in Japan.   The technique involves adding color pigment into the porcelain clay.  The color clay will be used to form different patterns.  It requires delicate hands and a meticulous mind to create.  Often the successful rate is much lower than other methods.  But when it happens, the outcome is amazing!

Nerikomi Technique (extension)

The basic step of Nerikomi technique is to prepare colored clay {porcelain).  The colored clay could be used in different ways to create beautiful surface decoration. eg. inlay, stick ons, even painting or slip casting.
